Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What can therapy help with?
I offer therapy for a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, stress, overthinking, panic attacks and low mood. Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed or stuck, and we work together to better understand what’s going on and find practical ways forward.
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you’re constantly overthinking, worrying, or replaying things—and you can’t seem to “snap out of it”—that’s a strong signal. You don’t need to be in crisis; being mentally exhausted is enough. If you’re relying more on things like avoidance, constant distraction, anger, or unhealthy habits just to get through, that’s a sign you might need better tools.
Do you specialise in anxiety therapy?
Yes, anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek support. I work with clients experiencing generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, persistent worry health anxiety and OCD. Therapy can help you understand your triggers, reduce symptoms and feel more in control.
What type of therapy do you offer?
I use an integrative approach, which means I draw from different therapeutic methods depending on your needs. This can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and deeper exploratory work to address underlying patterns.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or not quite yourself, therapy can be a helpful space to talk things through. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit—many people come simply wanting clarity, support, or change.
What happens in the first therapy session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’d like help with, and what you hope to gain from the process. You can also ask any questions and see if it feels like a good fit.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Some clients come for short-term support (6–12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term therapy. We can review this together as we go.
Do I need a GP referral to access private therapy?
No, you can contact me directly to arrange an appointment. Private therapy does not require a referral.
Do you offer online therapy sessions?
Yes, I offer both in-person sessions in St Albans and online therapy via secure video call across England. Many clients choose online sessions for convenience and flexibility.
Is online therapy effective?
Many studies show that online therapy (especially CBT) is about as effective as face-to-face therapy for common issues like anxiety and depression.
How much does therapy cost?
Session fees will be discussed when you get in touch. Payment details and cancellation policies will also be clearly explained before we begin.
How do I get started?
You can get in touch via email or the contact form on my website to arrange an initial session. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have before booking.
Can therapy help with panic attacks and overthinking?
Yes, therapy can be very effective for managing panic attacks and breaking cycles of overthinking. Together, we’ll develop practical tools to help you feel calmer and more in control.
What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
This is completely normal. Many people feel unsure before their first session. We’ll go at your pace, and there’s no pressure—you’re in control of what you choose to share.
